Objectives

The aim of this course is to explore the dimensions of new venture creation and growth. The course appeals to individuals who have an existing strong desire to become an entrepreneur or work in a startup or early-stage or entrepreneurial-minded company. This course is also good for students considering being intrapreneur.

Contents

An essential element of this introductory course is to assess a business opportunity and a business development process. Students will have the opportunity to analyze business cases, understand and assess business ideas, entrepreneurial teams, and business situations. They will understand the importance of International Entrepreneurship and the impact of culture. Students will learn how to create business, marketing, organizational and financial plans.

  5. Methods to initiate ventures. Blue Ocean Strategy.
  6. Social entrepreneurship
  7. Startup ecosystems in different countries

Teaching Methods

Conceptual frameworks, case discussions, and skill-oriented activities.

Prerequisites

Formal: Full-time student of Business Administration (BA Program) in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences (WISO) OR exchange student with approved learning agreement.

Academic: As the language of instruction and assessment will be English, students need to be fluent in English - both in terms of oral and written communication.

Assessment

Aufgrund der aktuellen Lage und den damit verbundenen gesundheitlichen Risiken besteht seitens der Hochschule auch kurzfristig die Möglichkeit, die Leistungserbringung (Prüfungsform) im SoSe 2020 zu ändern und damit den Gegebenheiten anzupassen.

The evaluation of the course will be done according to the multiple score system.The calculation of successful score will be done according to the proportions given as following:

  • Team activity (presentation)40%

Bewertung

Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von ECTS-Punkten ist das Bestehen der Prüfungsleistung für das Gesamtmodul. Die Prüfungsleistung für diese Kurseinheit geht zu einem Viertel (für AL13.1) bzw. zur Hälfte (für AL13.2) in die Prüfungsleistung für das Gesamtmodul ein.
