Kursübersicht "Specific Aspects of Supply Chain Management (L A 02)"

Course Objective

Based on preliminary lectures of logistics and supply chain management the objective of the course is to extend insights of supply chain processes and deepen understandings of fundamental concepts that are idiosyncratic to supply chains.

Within the course the students will be enabled to develop, evaluate and apply specific models in supply chains whereby the emphasis will be on topics relating to inventory management, network and transportation design.

  • Inventory Management
  • Distribution Networks & Network Design
  • Transportation Configuration

Teaching Method

Lecture, discussion, practices, case studies.

Some course materials will be made available upfront on mystudy. The students are encouraged to make themselves familiar with the materials in order to be prepared for in-class discussions.

Due to several practices with MS-Excel spreadsheets during the course it is recommended to bring a notebook.

Prerequisites:

Please note: The course will only take place if a minimum of eight students sign up.
Formal requirements: Enrolled students in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences of the RheinAhrCampus for the M.A. Programme in Business Administration.
Content Requirements:Communicative English skills for active participation.

  • Exam (0,7) – closed book and closed notes
  • Assignment (0,15) – individual assignment
  • Class Partizipation (0,15) – you are encouraged to actively participate in the lectures

Course Materials:

The course is based on selected articles from the logistics and supply chain literature and the textbook of Chopra, S., and Meindl, P. (Supply Chain Management: Strategy, Planning, and Operation). Supplementary course materials will be made available on mystudy.
