Objectives

The purpose of this course is to provide future leaders and managers with strategies to ad-dress ethical issues in sport. In the course, we will uncover how the social, political, cultural, economic, and technological dimensions in the environment impact on the management practices of leaders in sport, leisure, and physical activity organizations.

Contents

This course will give students the opportunity to understand ethics as applied in the sport, leisure, and physical activity organization context; understand strategies to address ethical problems in sport and sport-related fields; understand the elements involved in ethical deci-sion making; and understand current issues and problems that challenge leaders in sport, leisure, and physical activity organizations and how these issues and problems affect organizations.

Teaching Methods

Interactive Lecture with various active learning exercises.

Prerequisites

Formal: Full-time student of Business Administration (MA Program) in the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences (WISO) OR exchange student with approved learning agreement.

Academic: This course does not build up on any other courses offered on campus. It is therefore suitable for first-semester students. As the language of instruction and assessment will be English, students need to be fluent in English - both in terms of oral and written communication.

Assessment

Various in-class tests to be announced in class (40%), written paper (30%), oral presentation and participation (30%). The course will be offered during first teaching term (mid-March to May 2017).

Bewertung

Die Tests zusammen bestimmen die engültige Note zu 40%. Die Hausarbeit hat ein Wertungsgewicht von 30% und mündliches Referat in Verbindung mit Beteiligung ebenfalls von 30%.

Die Prüfungsleistung ist erbracht und ECTS-Punkte werden zuerkannt, wenn Prüfungsleistungen zu zwei verschiedenen Kurseinheiten des Gesamtmoduls bestanden worden sind.

Die Prüfungsleistung für diese Kurseinheit geht zur Hälfte in die Prüfungsleistung für das Gesamtmodul ein.
