Within the last several years, the evaluation of alumni surveys of Hochschule Koblenz has shown that students missed an appropriate course in how to write and work scientifically. Obviously, alumni need writing skills either working in industry or academia (e.g. writing study reports, documentations, protocols, handbooks, summarizing surveys, handbooks, writing articles for popular scientific and academic journals). This course is meant to strengthen students’ ability to read scientific literature, to understand and interpret it and finally to summarize and write their own (popular) scientific article.

Inhalte

Reading, understanding, discussing (popular) scientific literature, structure of scientific articles, differences be-tween qualitative and quantitative research methods, conceptual articles, literature reviews, review process of journals, writing and publishing a paper

Lehrformen

Lecture will take the form of seminars with examples and real case writing and researching. Lecture will be given in English, the paper can be also written in German.

Formale: Eingeschriebene(r) Studierende(r) am Fachbereich WiSo des RheinAhrCampus für den Master-Studiengang.

Students will write a (popular) scientific paper (70%) and will run through a real review process (30%).

Bewertung

Die Prüfungsleistung ist erbracht und ECTS-Punkte werden zuerkannt, wenn die Prüfungsleistung zu der gewählten Kurseinheit des Gesamtmoduls bestanden worden ist. Die entsprechende Bewertung ergibt dann die Modulnote.
